Claudia Kohner, Ph.D.
Claudia Kohner, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist in California. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology in 1998 from the California School of Professional Psychology, San Diego.
Prior to pursuing graduate study, she worked in publishing houses in New York City for more than a decade. She has combined her editorial and psychology backgrounds in various ways. For more than 15 years, she has been a freelance editor who specializes in psychoanalytic manuscripts. She is an instructor at another graduate clinical program, where she teaches a writing course and courses that support students on their doctoral projects. She is the program evaluator for a parent-infant support program for at-risk children. She has written and produced an illustrated book for young children and the adults who take care of them that is grounded in psychological theory. The book, entitled "IntroDUCKtion to Very, Very Big Feelings", is a tool to help adults respond to young children’s out-of-control behavior in ways that promote emotional development. She hopes that she will inspire students at the Eisner Institute to apply their education to helping others through clear thought and the written word.
