Richard Olmstead, Ph.D.
Dr. Olmstead received his doctorate in 1996 in Psychology with specializations in Psychometrics and social science research methods. Dr. Olmstead maintains faculty positions at UCLA and the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System and has acted as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on dozens of competitively-funded research projects. He has taught statistics and research methods at a number of public and private universities in the Los Angeles area at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Olmstead consults with a number of private companies regarding research methods and research project design; most of this work is with mid-sized pharmaceutical and medical device companies producing novel technologies. He has co-authored dozens of research publications primarily in the areas of nicotine dependence, psycho-neuro-immunology, and alertness monitoring via EEG acquisition. He also acts as an editorial reviewer for a number of journals including Health Psychology and Psychosomatic Medicine.
