Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT)

This program provides professional training that leads to licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT.) The MFT curriculum is designed to meet the educational requirements for licensure in California as specified in the California Business Code sections 4980.37 and 4980.40.

Eisner Institute for Professional Studies (EIPS) offers a variety of online psychology programs. EIPS is approved by the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education. We offer graduate degrees in psychology, as well as certificate programs.

At the masters level we offer Masters of Arts online psychology programs that lead to licenser as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT). After graduation, students can enroll in the Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) program. The Doctoral programs are: clinical psychology, clinical holistic psychology, clinical geropsychology,  clinical spiritual psychology, clinical forensic psychology and clinical health psychology. Transfer credit is applicable from the EIPS master’s to the Doctorate.

The MFT program is approved by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS.) The MFT curriculum is designed to meet the educational requirements for licensure in California as specified in the California Business and Professions Code sections 4980.37 and 4980.40.

Our MFT program is dynamic and innovative. You will learn the steps in becoming a licensed psychotherapist. After two quarters, you can begin a practicum. The practicum lasts two quarters (approximately six months.) After the MA degree, the students go onto a MFT Internship. The internship takes place at a non-profit agency. After obtaining 3000 hours of supervision, the student can apply for licensure. When licensed, Marriage and Family Therapists can practice independently.

One major advantage at EIPS is that we do not require a Thesis or Dissertation. On the other hand we require a Capstone which is either a position paper or a research proposal.

The Capstone is 25-35 pages written in a professional style following APA guidelines.

The classes are small in number which allows more effective communication and learning.

EIPS uses an asynchronous format who allows for great flexibility in terms of time and convenience.
